I am Kiran Peter, working as an Executive Director for Weaving People to Grow Foundation (WPTG Foundation). Through WPTG Foundation we are endeavoring to bolster peaceful coexistence among diverse faith communities in Pakistan through alleviation of poverty and promotion of justice. We are achieving our goal through six thematic areas including Promotion of Education, Church and Community Development, Climate Action, Social Cohesion, Community’s Decent Work and Economic Growth and Good Health. The organization is governed by 7 Board Members relating to the area of education, health, business and development sector. We have 16 Volunteers working with us and a Youth Network of 30 members. Our ongoing projects are WPTGF Educational Scholarship Program, WPTGF Vocational and Job Placement Program, WPTGF Social Cohesion Program (Women Interfaith Cricket Match), WPTGF Climate Action Program (Kitchen Gardening and Awareness on Environmental Protection).
I have an overall of 15 years of experience of development or civil society sector. My passion is to promote peace and harmony globally through fostering justice and socioeconomic development of marginalized communities. I hold a master degree in Mass Communication with fellowship in peacebuilding from John Hopkins University, Bologna Italy and USIP (online course). I have worked for national and International NGOs in Pakistan including Search for Common Ground Pakistan and contextualized two guidebooks narrated by Michael Shipler into Pakistani version “Radio Talkshows for Peacebuilding” and “Youth Radio Talkshows for Peacebuilding”. I have also translated and contextualized a book into Urdu and Pakistani version by “Family: The Future of the Church” by Johannes Reimer. My skills are networking, fundraising, proposal and report writing, program designing and implementation and organizational development.
