Safeer Ullah Khan has been deeply involved in theater for over 24 years, with expertise in script development, direction, and theater education. He has directed a wide range of notable plays, including “Sau Baras Ki Story,” “Akhri Salute” (based on Manto’s story), “Main Ne Kuch Nahi Keya,” “Siasat at 8 PM,” and “Aao Drama Dekhen” (inspired by Manto’s radio plays). As an actor, he has performed in numerous acclaimed productions such as “Tartuffe” (a French play translated into Urdu), “This Stained Dawn” (Dagh Dagh Ujala), and “The School for Wives” (a French play in English). In 2015, he toured the USA with “This Stained Dawn” and has recently toured various cities in Pakistan, performing his solo show “Safeer Ke Monologues.” Beyond his theatrical performances, Safeer has actively utilized his craft to raise awareness on critical social issues such as girls’ education, domestic violence, sexual harassment, child labor, corporal punishment, and child marriages. He has partnered with prestigious organizations like UNFPA, the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Group Development Pakistan, UNICEF, Islamic Relief, and Catholic Relief Services, among others. Currently, he is training two community groups, one in Peshawar and the other in Multan, to create and perform plays addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in rural areas. In addition to his theater work, Safeer is a highly skilled translator, providing services to various organizations including UNICEF, Pathfinder International, Sustify GmbH, and Strengthening Participatory Organization. He also manages “Pak NGOs,” an online platform dedicated to supporting the development sector in Pakistan.
